Independent Quebec will have own army: Duceppe

The separation issue is still a funny topic (why are they still on about it?). Well make sure they take their share of National debt when they go,  But how will they organize their Military when they go?  We will take back all Canadian articles, equipment and facilities.  All the...

    Small Pack Issue

Hey Pinky, make sure when you Go on Ex in Pet that you find my trench and bring me a cup.  Odd thing for the field but if you can get away with it, I say do it.

Rocket fired at Canadian embassy residence in Afghan capital - Guard hurt

The media hasn't been a good source of info for most of the conflicts and areas that Canadians are in.  Glad to see though that we do get info from this forum on top of what the media gives out so we can sift through the crap.  They are just keeping you on your toes MG. Keep frosty.

    BMQ / SQ

Recruiting centers don't have the information on how they are going to have course setups.  BMQ/SQ are usually right after eachother.  But you cant ask a recruiter these questions because each course if different.  I have taught on a few courses that had no break in between and a few that had...

    Lack of field training!

I think what we need to do more in field training is with other trades. Use engineers with the infantry more and have arty do drills off the infantry, fire mission calls (notional fire missions unless live fire of course).  Get the MPs to do collection and set up of POW cages med evacs with...

    Teamwork-is it forced????

I am all for the team work.  Helping others develop to a standard is great and does increase morale in most cases.  BUT, on the other end I have instructed on a few courses were the dead weight of a few or even a individual kills the group.  From a staff side a few posts hit the head of the nail...

Could use some thoughts for Recruiting...If anyone still cares about out Army...

The collapsible OBUA site is easy to make we used generic style walls made of press board with cut outs for doors and windows in random spots.  If we didn't need the windows and doors in that situation we used the cut out boards in the wall (tacked in temporally) to form a solid wall.  This type...

Could use some thoughts for Recruiting...If anyone still cares about out Army...

Schools are very hard sell to get brigades to let you do demos on. They said to me when I asked is what if we forget to get brass pickup or if PRO sends fragments of rock and FOD into pers or property.  I was told to use a park because they are constantly cleaned up and can be cordoned off for...

Afghan bomb injures three Canadian soldiers

I believe they know now that it is a bit harder to get close to our guys over there.  The bomber did it when he/she thought it was best.  Thank god they cant practice this skill, it's a one way trip and you don't need to be intelligent for that type of job.  I hope more of them blow themselves...

Could use some thoughts for Recruiting...If anyone still cares about out Army...

Well if you want to get a larger scale way to do recruiting you might want to get a open hose with demos.  What I mean for demos would be for displays as well as field demos ( section attacks and patrol techniques).  Now for use of piro you would have to get authority from brigade and local...

Afghan bomb injures three Canadian soldiers

I have to say it could have been worse if it was just after school time due to the close proximity to the orphanage.  These guys have to start to help us more get the fanatical goofs within their society that want to hurt anyone they can for their so called cause.

Afghan bomb injures three Canadian soldiers

Yes the bomber was killed in his vehicle.  One would think that these guys would run out of so called martyrs for their cause after seeing what we do to help them, but hey that would be logic.

Afghan bomb injures three Canadian soldiers

The troops were is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx vehicles.   The vehicles did stand up to the blast.   Our troops did take minor injuries and are being treated for them. Edited for inaccurate info / OPSEC.

    ND

Well a simple way is to have ALL soldiers in Canada and those over seas to carry out weapon training regularly.  Some people would say that they don't have time and others would say we do do weapon skills regularly.  Well ill be the reality guy a sec and say 90% say it but don't do it. So to...

    supply system?

Not going to name places but my support base is Air force.  We caught members of the supply group with field kit when we brought them out to deployment training in the field.  They had all the nice kit and who were they you ask? Just like everyone else has stated the Bin rats and their friends. ...

    Bergen ruck

The Bergen is a great piece of kit.  We have try ed them on when the Brits cross train with us.  The guys who were on the Cambrian patrol competition say that there is a ton of room.  When I used it I transfered all my kit from my ruck to the bergen and had a lot of room.  The small pack was not...

    Individual Meal Pack (IMP) [Merged]

Your friend might love it, but might want to have your helmet for all the bad war stories about IMPs.  The can stories brought back some discussions here and I had to put my helmet on for them.  Fun now but at the time some IMP stories especially the infamous Ham Omelet ( bows to Dan, anyone...

    Individual Meal Pack (IMP) [Merged]

IMPs have a self life like a cockroach.  The old ones are chemical swamps.  The life of the old ones and even the new ones in good storage is 5 - 10 years.  The Government says that they turn them around 2-3 years but these are the same guys who put expire dates on bottles of water.

Not sure what the limitations are for you?  If you have medical problems and you state them, sometimes medical recruitment pers flag you.  When you did your testing did you fail to meet the standards?  That plus what you wrote on your sheet might be the reason why they said this.  I have worked...

Leave Policy – Weekends (time off) Merged]

Most likely if you are going into the RCR in Ont your hitting Meaford (ahh meaford).  Borden is packed with Pat Pl pers and they are being shuffled all over Canada to get their training. Good luck for those who are in hard pack tech trades that might have to wait a few years to get into. Cheers
