    US Army Medic Training

The following is a breakdown of the US Army 91W course. Perhaps someone can provide an outline of the CF equivalent. The first seven to eight weeks consist of classroom training. Soldiers go through the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic course and take the NREMT-B exam at the...

    Update to US Army ACU

Can anyone who's been issued the ACU tell me if the Velcro on the sleeves comes custom-cut to match unit patches only when issued by each unit? I've seen it on certain uniforms. Or would the Velcro have to be modified after issue? Also, any regs on this sort of thing?

    The hospital

Three times recently, because I sideswiped a rock with my face while swimming and needed stitches. The guy at the ER check-in desk went "oh dear" when I took the dish towel away from my face, after asking me what the injury was. I hate needles and I hate stitches, and I hate that they have to...

    All Things Vegetarian/Vegan (merged)

No scientific garble from me, but holy meatballs Batman! Are you on a campaign to tell us how we're wrong because we don't follow your idea of a good diet? It's a good bet that most folks who post here know what they're about when it comes to how they eat. If there was a "Supersize Me!" movement...

Goto school for Aviation to get into the States

I have precious little experience in the field of aviation, so if I'm out of line I apologise. If you have a particular employer in mind I would suggest contacting them. Find out what requirements (education, experience, and so on) they have and then work to meet those requirements. As with...

"Cuppycake" - The song that will drive me completely insane...

ARHGaarjkgah Lexi I hate you for giving us that link. It's the kind of song that starts revolutions. Or at least drives one thoroughly mad. Hawkie and I are going to have to make you "normal" again. *evil* You're not gonna get that beret from me now, young lady.

    Update to US Army ACU

As far as I know for certain, the ACU replaces the three-colour desert pattern that had been in use. (Although after having seen some pictures of the ACU in action in Iraq, I'm not sure if it's the better of the two patterns, but my judgement's only based on those pictures not on first-hand...

    Update to US Army ACU

    Update to US Army ACU

I got the chance to see the ACU up close today and it looks good. The officer wearing it said he paid over $200 for it, but he was happy with the uniform. There are pockets on the knees and elbows to accomodate pads, which I found interesting. Also, desert tan boots will be the standard with the...

    Languages you know

English is my "native" language, but I also grew up speaking the odd bit of Finnish too. I've learned a bit more of the language within the past couple years - enough to fascinate me. Oddly enough, I can read Finnish slightly better than I can speak it.  ??? I can understand a tiny bit of...
