It is with great sadness that I just learned of the passing of one of the most admired sports figure of our generation: Yogi Berra died peacefully in his sleep at age 90 yesterday.

More than just a great sports figure, he gave us wonderful quotes, many of which have entered our classic repertoire common to all North-American, such as gems like:

"It ain't over t'ill it's over"

"You can observe a lot by watching"

"It's deja vu all over again"

and one of my favourites:

"If you don't know where you are going, you might end up some place else"

R.I.P. Yogi  :salute:

I guess it can now be said that it really is over.

He was a great sports figure with a whit that is unmatched.  A legend in so many ways.

Heard on NPR while driving to work today. Sad.

He was also a veteran of D-Day, served as a gunners mate on the USS Bayfield, an attack transport carrying troops landing on Utah Beach.

:salute:

edited to correct info on D-Day service
