Unusual question

Greetings,

I hope this is the right place to post this.

I am trying to find the unit/regiment a friend of my family was in. I have never actually spoken to him about it but I have heard some things from my parents who have talked to him. This is all I've heard.

He was in a reserve unit in Edmonton. He was a Squadron leader and he did reconnaissance. He has mentioned that he was with some "ranger types" and he has done nighttime operations or training where he was "sneaking up on sentries", doing raids, etc. He was in the military during the 70's and 80's.

I though it was unusual that a Squadron Leader (Captain or Major, I think) would be so 'involved' in combat. I thought he might have been in Lord Strathcona's Horse, the 19th Alberta Dragoons or the South Alberta Light Horse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With respect,

Michael K.
