Why this obsession with President Obama? Doesn't President Trump have enough scabs to pick at to keep people satisfied - Who is fired - Lawyer business - Russia - Stephanie Clifford. On the last one, why do people call her Stormy? Is she their friend or are they fans of her porn? By the way, President Trump's approval has gone up the past few days. Is it because people see he is having a positive effect on their lives, or is it that people are just getting stupider? I see hands raised for the latter, no surprise there.

Yes there are some who think Obama was 'an unmitigated disaster' and such, and I always wonder what the deal with those people is, and why they hate him so much. Actually, I don't really wonder at all. I mean they worship a president who claimed for years that Barack Obama was not born in the US, not eligible to be president.

So anyone who thought Obama was a disaster automatically worships Trump?

So you are so impressed by President Trump that you want to emulate him by referring to President Obama?

PS: I knew that link was coming so I prepared my answer.

It's a good way of pointing out the hypocrisy of Trump supporters who would have lambasted him for just a tiny fraction of the embarrassing gaffs or tweets Trump does on an almost daily basis.

Trump himself has an obsession with Obama also.  He constantly tweeted about Obama golfing, taking holidays and lets not forget the embarrassing "birther/Muslim" conspiracy.  While himself golfing more and taking more holidays than I believe any President in modern times.  Something that the American tax payers are paying for and should be rightfully outraged about.

Also can we really believe CNN?  Aren't they supposed to be the epitome of "fake news" ;)  I kid but I'm glad the economy is still doing well even though the DOW tanked 2,000 points.  I expect the approval rating will once again climb down into the 30s once the Dow continues too slide,  the wall doesn't get built,  the NK talks fail and more of Trump's great great great great great staff continue to pull pin and get replaced with Bush era warhawks.

My reply was to this,

Jed said:
Altair you are being very disingenuous. Obama was an unmitigated disaster and you have blatantly ignored the many proven heinous actions and several faux pas.

A piece from Byron York of the Washington Examiner. It is titled "Byron York: Trump and Obama: Who's really tougher on Russia?" Seems to me that is true. President Obama kicked a few Russians out at the end of his term, President Trump has actually killed Russians, attacked their allies and armed their enemies.

And, most recently, Mr. Mueller. :)

If the tweeting and posting about President Obama and Ms. Clinton ever stops, I will be surprised.

More recently, he seems to be focusing his twitter rage on Mr. Mueller.

https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/mbxgda/mueller-court-filing-rick-gates-trump-russia

Donald Trump’s deputy campaign chairman  Rick Gates was in direct communication with a person he knew was a Russian spy  in the weeks ahead of the 2016 election, according to court documents filed by special counsel Robert Mueller Tuesday.

The documents reveal Gates was in contact with a former officer in Russian military intelligence in the months leading up to Trump’s win.

Gates was “ directly communicating in September and October 2016” with an unidentified person who “has ties to a Russian intelligence service and had such ties in 2016,” the filing says.
The unnamed intelligence officer, referred to as “Person A” in the documents, worked for one of Manafort’s companies. The Washington Post claims the description matches that of Konstantin Kilimnik, the manager of Manafort’s lobbying office in Kiev.
The revelations were part of a court filing relating to the upcoming sentencing hearing of Dutch lawyer Alex van der Zwaan, who has pleaded guilty to lying to Mueller's investigators. He is seeking to avoid jail time as his wife is about to give birth to their first child.

Let us all remember 2 things here.

1) Mueller marches ever closer and the news has tended to get more and more damning (and that's just what we've become privy to), involving people deeper into Trump's inner circle during the election
2) Gates flipped hard and has been co operating with Mueller for weeks

As requested.
The special counsel investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin has dropped nearly two dozen criminal fraud charges against a key witness who has agreed to cooperate in the investigation.

A court filing on Tuesday showed that prosecutors working for Robert Muellerdropped some charges against Rick Gates, a former aide to the Trump campaign who previously worked as a lobbyist for pro-Russian interests, just days after he was indicted for participating in a conspiracy to hide millions of dollars in fees he was paid for lobbying work and evade US taxes.

Gates pleaded guilty last week to separate charges, filed against him in Washington DC, that he conspired against the US and lied to investigators over the course of their inquiry.

The Virginia charges were dropped against him as part of a plea agreement in which Gates is being shown leniency by prosecutors in exchange for his full cooperation.

Cheers. So I read it a couple of times.

I see where he is cooperating. Pretty well has to or get nailed for obstruction also.

I see, in your response, where charges were dropped after he spoke to them. Those are the ones in the article, right? I wonder if it's because, after explaining things, perhaps the Feds didn't have the goods after all and had to drop them? It's a very real possibility, likely mixed in with a bunch of other legal maneuvering? I've been involved in this process and seen several permutations of this type of action for more than a single reason.

The article is a month old. I would've expected something more current and factual. Thirty days is a long time in a high profile investigation. I read your response. Besides the two DC charges, has anything else come out? Is all the stuff spoken of in the article dropped? All dropped and two new charges brought. Have I got that right?

I guess now, I have to wonder the relevance of the article and your statement. I've been a provincial investigator, questioned witnesses, recommended charges and built court briefs for over ten years and have never heard the term "xx flipped hard." Can you explain, both the term and, if relevant, your source to this knowledge that 'he flipped hard'?

Cheers

My point is not 'flipping' a witness. I'm familiar thanks.

I want to know what flipping 'hard' is.  Like is it threatening with personal destruction or financial, or something else.

You flip a witness or you don't. It's their decision. A hard job 'flipping,' sure.  Flipping someone hard makes no sense. I just want to know what it means.

That, and what a month old article with everything in has changed has to do with anything.

It's ok. We're wasting bandwith. Its not that important. Thanks.

now this is coming out.  Where do you think Mueller is getting all of this new information?

Gates,  Flynn,  Manafort,  Mueller is working closer to Trumps inner circle.

That's what I thought, you spun your own spun story.

https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/mbxgda/mueller-court-filing-rick-gates-trump-russia
now this is coming out.  Where do you think Mueller is getting all of this new information?

I have no idea where he's getting it, but I'll wait until Mueller says where he got it. It's quite possible you're right, it's equally possible you're completely wrong. You have nothing to support your rhetorical statement.

Gates,  Flynn,  Manafort,  Mueller is working closer to Trumps inner circle.

Pure conjecture

I think if you want to voice an opinion of your hypotheticals, that's fine. Preface it with something to tell us that. I think, I believe, What if, stuff like that. When you make a definitive, people may want to know where you got the information.

It may have saved all that above. No direction, just a suggestion you can take or leave.

Cheers
