Okay so every soldier gets a deduction from their pay for room and board (provided you are liveing in military housing/barracks) anyone know what that amount is? just curious.

Depends on what rank you are, the type of accomandation, and what base you live...

from $40 to $250 a month.

I am in borden and pay $412 a month for Rations and quarters at ipc pte 3

wow, that's great, and I thought that it would be alot more.

Around here, you can't find a one room rathole for less than 500$ a month. ( I am in the Tech. Triangle; Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge)

Here, soldiers here can get rental assistance (RA) for living out of the lines. I knew 4 RAEME armourers who were renting a house at about $400/wk (not month) in the leafy suburb of Heathcote in South Sydney. Right on the border of the Royal National Park, and almost an acerage, so one could be as loud as one wanted, so the mayhem carries on, and on.

After RA, each Digger had to fork out about $40/wk, so hence ther were some really outragous parties there, with all sorts of wildness going on. The place even has a pool.   :warstory: So imagine, keg parties :blotto:, BBQs, and   :-*   tarts    :-* wandering in and out at all hours, and the rest of it. All 20 mins from Holsworthy Base.

So the rest of the $$ went to food and of course grog, and after it all, they still save $$.

A few of us SNCOs and WOs showed up for the housewarming   , and to a bucks night (Stag) for one Dig who was getting married ( that is a story in its own ;D ). It was truly Animal House for real, but a clean and well orgainsied one.
