Clearly he is someone who has fallen on hard times and has an addiction. Although not excusing what he's done (ie theft), I am disinclined to throw stones and instead feel compassion for him and his family, as well as his school's victims.

Yes, there are no winners here, everyone comes out banged up to some degree. He does, however, get the least amount of any sympathy I might have for him.

At least he pled guilty, and is working to pay back the money as well as having sought treatment. It wasn't right, I wouldn't trust him with money again for a long time, but I wouldn't want to drag his name through the mud.
