Canada entered the Korean War sixty years ago on July 5, 1950.  HMC ships Cayuga, Athabaskan, and Souix departed Esquimalt Harbour as the first Canadian military response only 11 days after the war began.  The ships arrived in Sasebo, Japan on July 30 to begin patrols off the Korean Peninsula.
