I had someone tell me that there are still some facilities left on the West Coast that may be able to handle building Naval-sized ships.  Any thoughts? I know that VSL and the other major one in Vancouver are only really equipped to do refits.  I am puzzling to think who on the West Coast...

Well spoken by Commodore Lehre.  He pretty much makes the case. Glory in War? What about the selflessness of duty? In my eyes, nobody, I mean nobody, owes me a thing for the time I've spent overseas.  I think there are several folks who would agree with me. 

Why yes indeed the CF was funding Mr. Jurarez's law studies.  When I knew him, he was planning to get out and become a Saanich Cop.  I guess political martyr pays more.

I am no expert by any stretch on the requirements for Afghanistan, but where exactly do they plan to put a CIWS system? On top of this, aren't RPG and mortar rounds fairly small when compared with a missile? As for going to sea without a CIWS, I wouldn't worry too much because we aren't sending...

For those wondering, I did sail with Juarez.  He always seemed a little off but never quite disillusioned.  He just never quite got the ship life.  For more info, PM me or ref. some of my previous posts.

Just throwing this out there for anyone who might have the technical knowledge, were the CPFs not designed with 'light arctic operations' in mind? Might the government produce another version of the CPF that has been strengthened for ice operations rather than going overseas to find a suitable...

Come on now, Ymir, BC is a vacation hot spot. ;D  I would seriously love to see some more high res images of areas in that province in the Kootenays.  Nice scenery and it used to be popular with the army as a training area in the sixties, or so I am told.

I think its safe to say that Juarez will not be back anytime soon.  He may be parading with the NDP hammer and sickle at their next convention, but he won't be back unless the NDP gain power.  Juarez can become their MND because of his colossal military experience and Napoleonic leadership...

I read the article by the CDS today and it made sense for the most part.  I hope things stay in the common sense vein, because I know that things can get really silly really quick in this outfit.  Now maybe this is me being a little jaded, but I'll give everyone a little example of some...
