Well, I ship out tomorrow morning at 8am for BMQ at Connaught and then the rest of the summer is CG. See you all there!

Ceremonial Guard (CG) Mega Thread [MERGED]

No, it means I don't get jacked up for not knowing how to do something I haven't been taught. Eg, drill steps.

Ceremonial Guard (CG) Mega Thread [MERGED]

Awww that sucks, now I'm the only guy I know and the only guy from 4RCR going. Canuck89, that's pretty shitty, but if there's one thing I've learned about the CF in the few months that I've been enrolled is that it's a big game of hurry up and wait. We have to get our shit together super fast...

Ceremonial Guard (CG) Mega Thread [MERGED]

You're 4RCR? I'm shipping out for 26 April BMQ for CG and I'm with 4RCR. Been to any parade nights? To the veterans of CG: what can I expect?

    Getting the cap badge in?!

Stupid question, I know, but I searched and couldn't find it. I just got my initial kit issue and I'm trying to fit my cornflake into the beret. Am I supposed to make a hole in the stitching and force it in there? I don't want to mess up my new beret or get smoked, so any help is appreciated!

Dutch Soldiers Stress Restraint in Afghanistan

You're seriously drawing a parallel between World War 2 and the occupation in Afghanistan? Wow. I don't even have to explain the multitude of differences between the two conflicts; I think you're just upset at the fact that the Dutch aren't adopting the same military strategy as every other...

Dutch Soldiers Stress Restraint in Afghanistan

That actually makes a hell of a lot of sense if you think about it. Okay, maybe it's because I'm fully Dutch-blooded that I'm biased, but the final sentence wraps it up. By blowing the hell out of the Taliban and inflicting collateral damage, people aren't gonna like you. Adopting a defensive...

What trades are fighting units, and what aren't?

Thanks for all the help, everyone. Geo: I'm in London, Ontario and I know the 4th RCR is stationed here at Wolsley Barracks. I've been researching some of the other jobs and it seems Signals Operator would be pretty interesting; I'm a bit of a computer nerd so it seems right up my alley. As far...

What trades are fighting units, and what aren't?

Hey all, good to see this site around. It's answered a lot of my questions, and it's been an invaluable resource in my decision to join the Reserve. I have a question on what trades are "fighting" trades, and what aren't. Like many civilians probably think, when I think "Army" I think getting...

University education - Occupational dilemma inside...

Firstly, let me start off by saying this site has been unbelievably informative in my decision-making process to join the Reserves. Thanks to all of you. I apologize in advance for the length of this post. I went to the Recruiting office today, and the woman I spoke to implied that since I was...
