I first read about Oak Island in Owl magazine in the mid 1970s; toured a few years later; I've read several books on the topic... and remain intrigued by what may (or may not) be there, and how things have progressed in the hunt for whatever may be down in the Money Pit.
I've seen a few episodes of the show; while there are some interesting parts (the actual hunt & the technical challenges), I find some of the "Let's trot out more folks with weird theories" parts to be a little frustrating - it sometimes feels as if the producers need to find some padding to reach their quota of episodes. I'd find it much more interesting to see more recreations of past work on the island by prior treasure hunters - but I'm guessing that their budget wouldn't cover those kinds of costs.
