Was watching some past episode with 'Pirates of the Caribbean' playing in the background...  ;D

An amazing and intriguing story, for sure!

I first read about Oak Island in Owl magazine in the mid 1970s; toured a few years later; I've read several books on the topic... and remain intrigued by what may (or may not) be there, and how things have progressed in the hunt for whatever may be down in the Money Pit.

I've seen a few episodes of the show; while there are some interesting parts (the actual hunt & the technical challenges), I find some of the "Let's trot out more folks with weird theories" parts to be a little frustrating - it sometimes feels as if the producers need to find some padding to reach their quota of episodes.  I'd find it much more interesting to see more recreations of past work on the island by prior treasure hunters - but I'm guessing that their budget wouldn't cover those kinds of costs.

A very good description.  THey do spend way too much time fielding every bloddy theory, and still did at leaste twice in the last episode.  I am liking the theory about the freed Slave Samuel Ball as the metal detector specialist was finding some interesting items from a possible military camp on oneof his plots.

I wasn't even 10 years old when we toured the island.  It was a perfect day for it - it was slightly overcast, with a bit of fog.  There wasn't that much to see - it was mostly holes in the ground, some old, rusting equipment, and a small museum with a limited number of artefacts - but to the 8 or 9 year old me it was probably the best visit ever.

You can have Johnny Depp and the Pirates of the Caribbean; I'll take that visit to Oak Island any day.

One of the contractors I work with has been on and off the island for various reasons throughout his life, and more recently has done some work for the team conducting the search. He's more than sure there's something there - just is it worth the cost of finding it, planning on some potentially costly misses. I've also been informed that the show is certainly helping in their efforts.

I put down the show a couple of years ago when they had some vested halfwit (not Kel) on there who was pretty much proven to be a quack.
