Tax on CMHC fees

I am posted to Trenton and I received an email from my lawyer that I have to pay the tax on my CMHC fees on my closing day.  I am a first-time home buyer.  Since the CMHC fees are covered via Brookfield, aren't the taxes on the fees also covered?

I am still waiting for a reply from Brookfield, but things are slow during the APS.
