During the later part of the campaign in North West Europe the 5th Division converted some Ram gun tanks into flamethrower conversions. Unlike the “Badger” these retained their turrets and gun armament. Like the Badger the flame gun was housed in the bow machine gun position.
I have been unable to find any official record of these conversions being used, particularly photographic evidence. Can anyone confirm whether these vehicles were used in a combat role? Second question, was the gun armament on these vehicles ever used in a combat role?

Not a flamethrower (exactly), but putting a gas turbine on a Ram tank in 1946 is certainly a "first" of sorts......

I wonder if this qualifies us to claim that Canada was the first to mount a gas turbine engine in an AFV?

In theory, the jet was used to blow away sand and topsoil in order to reveal landmines. In practice, the mines "came up like Frisbies and flew about the place". A more practical use was its employment clearing snow in 1947.

Interestiong..... a mine "detector" and "flinger"... Am certain that was a practical application
