Heading to Ottawa for a meeting on the 8th. Staying at the Radisson on Queen street. Get in around supper time, first stop after putting the bags away, Confederation Square and the War Memorial to pay my respects, after that..............????

Ideas????

War Museum, Museum of Civilization, Museum of Science and Technology plus a score more of museums to see.

Visit Parliament, Rideau Hall, the experimental farm, the market.

See what's playing at the NAC.

Lunch or dinner at Giovanni's on Preston St

Lunch at the Works! in Westboro or brekkie at The Newport (the official Ottawa Elvis Sighting Society)

World of Maps is fun, tons of second hand books stores as well.

Pick a theme for a bar/pub and you'll find one close by to suit your tastes. (They do have an Ottawan rendition of the Lower Deck)

Trip out the RCMP horse stables

for a few ideas.

Just in for meetings on the 9th, war museum if it is open late enough.
Thanks for the suggestions.

You're in luck, the museum for Remembrance Week, is open from 0900 to 2100 - starting on the 7th of Novemember.

If you head down to the war mermorial as planned, you'll be heading in the right direction if you want head out to a bar/restaurant afterwards.  You'll have two options (in different directions) from the war memorial.  The byward market has good restaurants but it's bars will be filled with university students (maybe not on a Wednesday).  If you end up down there, you can also pay a visit to the lesser-famed peacekeeping memorial.

Your other option is to head south down Elgin St (the street that the war memorial is on) where you find more good restuarants and it's bar scene caters to an older crowd.

All of which is a very short walk from the war memorial.

If you want an excellent steak, and don't mind paying a little more, try Al's Steakhouse on Elgin St.

You mean the Al that demanded the Cdn Govt send a special helo for him while he was on vacation?  Hy's has much better steaks and Mike Duffy hangs out there...LOL
