Need some opinions

I have been considering going into the reserves. I am doing it because I can see where my life is going and I need to change it. I have a wife and 2 kids and I am 39. I've talked to a recuiter and plan to get in touch with more questions. But given the amount of people on this forum, I'm hopin someone will be able to help me with thes couple of questions. This one may seem like a silly question but how will it help my parenting and how will it help me with life in general? These may seem like silly question like I've said but they are question that keep coming to my mind. I don't know where to find them in the subjects menu. Thank you.

Joining the CF reserves won't help you with this anymore than working at walmart will.

Unlike Walmart, the Reserves will give you a different place to drink on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The biggest thing that I'm hoping is that even just through the basic training it will help me enough to help me in all other areas. I appreciate all of your responses and I put this on here because I want honest answers and not textbook answers. You don't know how tiring textbook answers get. Actually you probably do.
