I read this page...and find it hard to belive...did NDP really start this...cause I find it hard to believe that Jack would do anything for the forces???  http://www.ndp.ca/page/4574

Read the companion article at: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2006/11/21/funeral-babcock.html

It's no longer about providing the option of a state funeral for the last surviving vet of WWI, but the Dominion Institute says it should only be given to the vets who remained in Canada.  I'm still having creepy factors about this as the Dominion Institute and now apparently, the NDP's motion, have yet to speak to the vets or their families.

Lame Lame F'ing Lame

Can't these fellas put politics aside for ONE moment.  WHO cares who started it?  All I know is that they agreed on something meaningful.  Trying to gain votes from this pisses me off.....

I guess I should be thankful the NDP tabled this idea...... Get Bent

What I meant to ask was it the NDP who called for this? I just cant see that cause they dont support troops.....now or back then.

They didn't start the original petition, but they did introduce the motion to the House of Commons.

There was a piece in the Kingston Whig-Standard about this yesterday.
No state funeral for vet?
The Vet is question basically agrees with the sentiment about the honour being restricted to a Canadian citizen.

Kingston Whig Standard said:
Dorothy Babcock says they're not even sure if John is a Canadian citizen anymore.

"He feels like the funeral should go to a Canadian," Dorothy said.
