NATO soldier killed, two wounded in Afghanistan
Updated Tue. Nov. 7 2006 6:22 AM ET

Associated Press

KABUL -- NATO says one soldier has been killed and two others wounded after an explosive device struck their patrol vehicle in southern Afghanistan.

The blast occurred yesterday in the Panjwaii district of Kandahar province.

The NATO statement did not disclose the nationalities of the dead and wounded soldiers.

The wounded soldiers were taken to a nearby military hospital for treatment.

There are some 23-hundred Canadian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, with most serving in Kandahar province.

The Panjwaii district, west of Kandahar, has been the scene of intense fighting between Taliban insurgents and Canadian troops in recent months, with several deaths and injuries taking place there.

Damn. Just when there was a lull in the casualties and the news looked positive, this has to happen.
