I'm moving soon and heard it's a good idea to tow a trailer behind my car. Does anyone know the rate that we're reimbursed for towing per km?

rates and rules
if you can do without dont tow
if you have to tow,,,tow lightly
apprise appropriate trailer then overload.
disregarding all the rules above
surrender appropriate monetary solution
sending everything grey hound(assembly required later)
then charge out on your harley
remembering the worse is yet to come
really dumb thoughts on april fools day huh apply appropriately
                                  best regards,,,

Questions to all your answers on moving can be found here.

www.irp-pri.com  The 2007/08 CFIRP policy is not out yet but if you download the 06/07 one it will suffice for most questions.

Little gems like this-

14.06
Allowance and Kilometric Rate for travel via PMV
The kilometric allowance shall be based on the approved system “Promiles” and will be calculated using the applicable KM rate multiplied by the distance traveled using the travel rates as published by the Department of Finance and will be as follows:
• PMV – kilometric rate for passenger vehicles
• Motorcycle – 60% of kilometric rate
• Trailer - 50% of the kilometric rate

Some of the decision depends on what you want to use your Custom package for and how big your custom package is.  The 50% km rate or the cost of shipping the trailer - either will come out of that package.

Scenario 1 - you ship the trailer, the bill is paid by IRP, the trailer arrives at your door, money is spent from your Custom package

Scenario 2 - you tow the trailer, get an extra 25 cents/km (roughly, depending on the province), and it probably won't cost you that in extra gas, so you have a bit of money in your pocket for your trouble, also from your Custom package.

So depends on how much trouble it is to tow your trailer, how big your Custom package is, how many kms you're moving, and so on.  Do a little comparison and see which scenario works better for you.
