Friends of soldier killed in Afghanistan to restore his favourite car

WINNIPEG - Friends of a 21-year-old Winnipeg man killed in Afghanistan last year are restoring his favourite car in his honour.
Michael Seggie loved his 1968 Plymouth Barracuda and planned to fix it up when he returned from serving in Afghanistan.
Seggie, a corporal, was less than two weeks away from ending his first tour of duty when he and two other soldiers were killed by Taliban fighters last September.
He was a member of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based at Canadian Forces Base Shilo in Manitoba.
Jim Seggie, Mike's dad, drove the green Barracuda S Model to Shilo on Saturday to meet with members of the base's car club.
They plan to restore the car from the "wheels up," says Jim, as a way to honour their friend and fellow soldier.
Mike's mother says she saw the car for sale in 2005 and knew her son would love it. He bought it the day after she told him about it.
"His plan was to come back from Afghanistan and he would have been restoring it right now if it hadn't been for him being killed," Jim Seggie said.
"And that is what the guys have pledged to do, restore it the way Mike wanted it."

Another story that makes me smile. Just goes to show what a good job the Seggie family did raising their son!! His friends obviously think extremely highly of him!!
