Failing courses

How exactly do you fail a course? For those of you who have passed (or failed) courses where, like, 14 of 31 guys made it, what happened to the other 17 (besides medical problems)? Is it set up so that any written exams are what count, or is it “the last guy back from the recce goes home”, or more of a cumulative effect where your stinkiness becomes evident to the instructors over time? Do you ever get a chance again on the same or any other training?
Cheers,
Ralph.

You don‘t fail if you get a medical RTU. Rather, you fail if you don‘t meet your POs (performance objectives).

Each course is made up of POs, some will be written tests (application of military knowledge, rank structure, first aid, etc), others will be ability oriented such as tests on C7 operation, safety precautions, patrols, section attacks, etc. Remember, each course is different, and will be made up of a different set of POs.

You can also fail for major fU^ckups such as neglecting safety precautions or doing something really dumb-@ss on the range, etc. Normally, you won‘t fail for chits and things such as kit and quarters. But, again, it depends on the course and the course staff.
