What is JTF2 (Canada Joint Task Force)? Is it an elite group in Ottawa or just a phoney story I read on the web? Does anyone know anything about JTF2? I read once that 250-300 people were in it, is this true? I know nothing I admit that so don‘t call me stupid if I don‘t know what JTF2 is. Can just anyone enroll?

As far as I know, there is no JTF, just a JTF2. They are an SAS type organization, but Canadian. The Canadian gov‘t doesn‘t discuss them or what they do. To be in, you need to have first been in the army, and have all sorts of qualifications, before you can go and apply.

Hope this helps.

Is there a reason for the 2? Does it stand for anything, or is it there to look cool?

Do a search of this site for "jtf2" and you will find more informatio than you know what to do with. This has been talked about over and over again.

lmao probably half the info is incorrect I figured here would be my best bet to find anything. Maybe 2 is the second team cause the first one everyone died?? who knows? I don‘t

I believe it was meant to "replace" the Canadian Airborne Regiment as the elite forces, which was primarily the "first" elite group (known publicly), hence the "2."

Oh ok, that makes sence I suppose, better then the first one all being dead Or it jsut look cool. Looking cool? what was with that Jonsey??

Alright, I‘ll set the record straight. The 1st JTF was an RCMP unit in charge of anti-terrorism. The anti-terrorism responsibilities were then transfered to the CF and the new team was renamed JTF2.

Just highjack an airliner/bus and you will find out all you ever wanted to know and more.
There will even be an opportunity for a question and answer session prior to your passing into the next world of 40 virgins.

Personally, if I was an extremist, I would not trade my life for anything under 150 virgins and an eternity‘s supply of Viagra. Maybe some new boots too. :D

I have never hard of JTF2, it must be some kind of new fangled video game.

The reason for the "2" is that there was originally an RCMP-based organization called the Joint Task Force, JTF2 being its successor, it has the 2.

There must be an echo in here...

Didn‘t Soldier of Fortune pretty much sum it up?
;)

There wasn‘t any "JTF" named predecessor. The RCMP unit that was replaced by the JTF2 was their SERT teams. JTF2 was chosen for no other reason that it sounded cool. The JTF didn‘t replace the Airborne Regiment, It was in the works well before there was any talk of disbandment.

The JTF2 is not made up solely of Canadian Forces Personel. The RCMP still have involvement, as do a number of other agencies, hence (Joint Task Force).

Actually Graham thats not true....its now armed forces personnel only.....the joint indicates its open to army air and naval personnel.

JTF1? During the first Gulf War I heard (read? can‘t remember) their was a Joint Task Force 1 and disbanded after the war ended. Has anyone else heard of this? I‘ll have to google this one...

Rumour has it the name JTF2 was inspired from a JTF4 in Florida. A JTF4 without a similarily named predecessor.

Perhaps the other agencies involvement Graham D is refering to is the outside agency training they recieve such as SAS, FBI etc.

You don‘t need to a lot of courses, just the CO‘s letter of recomendation and a couple of years in. You also have to pass a certain pyhsical test.

Yes, those would be some of "other agencies" I was eluding to. I am aware that those agencies really only tie in for training and/or the occasional joint task "mission". I watched something about the RCMP (I think it may have been "Forbidden Places") a couple of months ago, and it mentioned that it was possible for a Mountie to be selected for the unit if he exceled in the training that they participate in from time to time.
