I finally finished school until September & would like some suggestions on books to read. Not looking for any romance type shite, which I'm sure no worries on here!....Maybe something along the lines of semi-intellectual or horror type stuff?!  ??? Suggestions would be great!

Thanks!!  :D

There was an official reading list floating around, as well as a discussion about what people are reading these days.

Off the top of my head, any of RA Heinlein's later work, esp Starship Troopers, Number of the Beast, the Moon is a Harsh Mistress

A History of Warfare, Sir John Keegan

On Killing, LCol D Grossman

Guns, Germs & Steel, Jared Diamond

Collapse, as above, next on my list but I've not yet read it

Biohazard, Ken Alibek

Who Killed the Canadian Military, Granatstein (sp?)

If you want disturbing check out Timothy Findley's Headhunter.  Excellent book.

Try Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" and "Da Vinci Code" which is the sequel to "angels and Demons", fast paced, thrilling and fairly intellectual with some conspiracy theory involved. I'd recommend that to anyone with the above interests.

Some personal faves: "the Short Timers" by Gustav Hasford- this is the book the movie "Full Metal Jacket" is based on. Also: "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuck. For some truly depraved science fiction-"I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream"- a collection of short stories by Harlan Ellison. Last, "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller is the bomb.
