A Deeply Fractured US

Theories and rumours aside, Haley is done as of March 5, next Tuesday. AFP Action, her biggest supporter, has stopped funding her. Trump pulled 20 delegates from her in SC. That gives him 110 over her 20 and he'll likely pull most of the remaining 874 Super Tuesday.
He’ll clinch for certain. That isn’t in doubt.
Motions have been made, as you say. As far as MAGA wresting control of the RNC, that will be determined by a democratic vote. You don't wrest control, when a majority supports it. They know what's on the table, it'll be up to a majority to decide what path they wish to follow. If they decide for Trump, so be it. If they don't they don't.
I’m sure it will be. The race I think is to prevent him from being able to spend that money on his legal expenses not related to his run. The motions may not even pass.
There's change coming to the GOP, no doubt. History will decide whether they make the right decision or not. I think though, you are going to see Never Trumpers and RINOs being voted out in favour of MAGA. People like McConnell have shown themselves for who they are and lots of voters are not happy with them, at all. If the RNC goes to MAGA, you'll have your answer.
The change is already there I think.

That is what must keep some GOP strategists up at night.

Independants and never trumpers who will either stay home, spoil their vote or vote Biden.
Never say never Kev.

If he was going against Biden, he'd be POTUS again. Dr Jill doesn't want to give up power yet though, but I doubt it will matter. Biden is poison to all kinds of voters.

Maybe Haley will bail and run for the Democrats, where she truly belongs. The military industrial complex doesn't care about parties, only wars that use their wares. Like Ukraine.

How do they conduct the polls though?

If it’s the old school “calling phones”, how many folks under the age of 50 will answer unknown calls, and/or have landlines?
Don't know how. I do know that polling companies are aware of their weaknesses and continually work to overcome them.

The alternative to paying some attention to polling is to pay none at all, and hope things work out OK instead of trying to address a polling deficit.

It wasn’t a hypothetical per se when this was brought.

It was a theory that Nikki Haley is only staying on long enough for the RNC to make some changes to prevent the RNC from having to pay for Trump’s legal fees when he becomes the candidate. That internal machination is currently going on. Motions have been tabled to do so. Maga is trying to wrest control and GOP types are trying to stall it as long as they can.
MAGA is an entity with agency now, is it?

I think MAGA as a movement could fairly be said to have had those characteristics to at least some extent for a while now. It’s as fair as saying something along those lines about “the Republican establishment” or any similarly notable political faction- though I think MAGA as an movement with, yes, some agency, is somewhat more centralized around Trump and his inner circle.

H
So two court decisions on Trump one good and one bad for him.

His lawyers have had a busy week and it’s only Wednesday.

SCOTUS granting cert on the immunity hearing is a minor surprise, but at least they’ll hear it and rule definitely on the question of presidential criminal immunity for acts claimed to be in his official capacity. That will probably have significance on at least the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case as well, and potentially the Georgia RICO case. That one potential defence argument will be completely settled one way or the other.

It also might push it off for months as well.
Yup. Toss up whether the Jan 6th case goes before the election at this point. Also not at all certain that SCOTUS will return a decision within its current term ending in early July.

Not working out well for the lawfare crowd. I believe they were looking for quick slam dunks with all or most narratives being written and supplied by them. Have it all done and over with before the July primaries. Trump drawn and quartered and off the campaign.

Then Trump’s lawyers went to work. Appeals, SCOTUS involvement, shady prosecutors and judges. Thing are being pushed off and Trump is starting to drive the timeline. Willis and Wade are neck deep in shit, Smith is getting stymied and Trump is smoking Biden at every turn and taking his votes.

July and November are a long ways away and anything can happen at any time to change things, but right now the anti Trumpers are in disarray and losing ground. For now, the tables appear to be turning.

It's all wait and see for now. More wishful thinking on all sides, discussion and opinion keep the masses engaged. Predictions are hoping, not fact.

Wade and Willis aren’t in shit. Nothing particularly compelling has come out of that. Some embarrassment, but nothing that appears poised to in any way threaten the RICO prosecution.

It does appear that the New York felony case is quietly going to come in the other the first actual underway trial. But that one’s by far the least significant.

Is that the Bragg one? Democratic strategists months ago were worried that it was likely to be the first one in the pipe, because it has a strong likelihood of ending up as a "win" in Trump's column

You must be watching a different trial than me and listening to different experts, they are on the verge of perjuring themselves, but I'm not getting into a pissing match about it. We'll wait and see. I don't have a lot to do nowadays, so I don't watch soundbytes or little tidbits on the news. I sit and watch these trials, while they're happening.
