    Toronto Reserve Recruiting

Try HMCS YORK, they're hiring.  With no army reserve BMQ this summer, the best option is to go Navy for the Toronto area.

Why Acting Sub-Lieutenant, and Where are the Midshipmen & Ensigns (Merged thread)

Similarly, Acting Sub-Lieutenants and Sub-Lieutenants are more commonly referred to as Subs, or Subbies, but never as a replacement to their rank. i.e. You never say Subbie Jones, but SLt Jones is a subbie.  They sometimes are called by senior officers as Sub. It is also common to call...

Why Acting Sub-Lieutenant, and Where are the Midshipmen & Ensigns (Merged thread)

Acting Sub-Lieutenant is the appropiate term.  To tell the truth, they hate it, as I did, and can't wait to get promoted to get away from it.  One way of inspiring them to work harder...

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

CFAT before application: This is called a "Test - no file" process, where you get the chance to write the CFAT to determine for what trade you qualify.  Your name is recorded, so there are no 'freebies' for CFATs, and it prevents a lot of processing on the recruiting end.  Yes it exists, when...

    Should I even bother?

Allow me to clarify this issue. Canadian Permanent Resident is considered on equal footing as Canadian Citizenship for enrollment purposes.  This was changed very recently.

    Vehicle Technician ( merged )

Now you have to do your own research on forces.ca - look up the trade and imagine that every vehicle that you see that is being run by the Army has to have a mechanic behind it somehow.  We have civilian vehicles too. Good luck.

    Vehicle Technician ( merged )

Sounds good.  Don't know where you are, but check out the NCM SEP program and come in.

    Vehicle Technician ( merged )

Let me tell you that if you ignore your payments, that tells me that you're willing to give up responsibility.  Not good for CF members.  If you keep it up, despite your difficulties, then you've proven to me that you're reliable. Vehicle tech?  Marine Mechanic?  All engines are basically the...

Conflicting Information - Is there a good way to sort it out?

A comment on waiting times here: 4 years for school: your choice - not the military - you could have taken other occupations or entered under other programs at any time. 1 year for eyesight: fact of life - not the Rec centre's fault. 1 year after eyesight regulation changes: if there are no...

    Toronto Reserve Recruiting

Blindspot, I invite you to come into the CFRC to talk to the dozens of reserve recruiters that we have working in the office to find out how much we know and how much we don't know.  I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that we have 32 Brigade recruiters from multiple regiments and HMCS YORK...

Conflicting Information - Is there a good way to sort it out?

No error - there is a massive difference between a small chance and no chance.  This one has a small chance and it appears he was given due process.  I'll add that he continues to have access to a great many other trades, and/or if the pilot community wanted to select more, then they can do so -...

My mistake - absolutely correct and thank you.

Conflicting Information - Is there a good way to sort it out?

If you are found suitable and competitive and you have passed the medical, you go to ACS as a further step of the screening process.  You go on the merit list after being found suitable and competitive, and you will be further processed conditional upon successful completion of ACS.  ACS is only...

Conflicting Information - Is there a good way to sort it out?

Let me start off by saying that the merit list is a list of applicants who were found to be 'suitable and competitive' for the limited Pilot positions.  'Competitive' could mean you are the ideal person for the job, or you're like the Maple Leafs competing for the Stanley Cup.  The merit list...

    Joining

Just to let you know, the trade selections that you are making are exactly that and are not necessarily in priority.  Please ensure that when you make your trade selections, that you are prepared to accept any one of them.  You do not have to choose three, you simply have up to three...

    Hello everyone.

Keep it simple.  Do you have asthma? NO? Then say NO.

Not able to finish the application process.. :(

Too bad you gave up.  I would much rather you have taken another course. You should continue with the process to see if you can do it rather than stop yourself.  Let recruiting and the Basic training course determine if you're fit enough, don't defeat yourself!
