I just called my recruiter...Holidays begin Dec 20 and end Jan 2

Any way to know ahead of time?...My dad lives oversea's, so it would be nice to know if he's coming back during the holidays at the same time I am. It would suck if our holidays only overlapped for a few days...Also, in general, how long is it? I've heard people say anywhere from 7-14...

Maybe its just that I'm naive, but I've always kinda wanted to be deployed. There's something to be said for being in the front lines...I kinda want to know, and I'm sure I wont get any exact answer, but what are the chances of being deployed if I volunteered to be deployed?

Obviously I want to make the right impression. What should I wear? I'm realy just going there to drop off an application, I'm not sure if I'll even be interviewed...Suggestion?

In the application form I got. It says I need 3 refrences, all of which have to have known me for 5 years? I cant think of anyone who's known me for 5 years!! I've never had a job before. And the only people that have known my for 5 years, aside from family, are my two coaches.

Once you're fully inlisted and perhaps even in the field. Do you get to choose you're own weapon/gear? Or is every one issued the same gear?
