Hey,

I was just wondering what the units such as 1 and 2 RCHA do when they are deployed to afghanistan. If any one has any info it would be great.

cheers,

Matt

There have been a few firefights serious enough to call for and receive artillery fire.  As reported in the media (OPSEC a non issue), these can clashes last for hours, involve large numbers of troops, and provided both the need for, and opportunity to employ conventional artillery.  As much as this is a guerrilla conflict, when the enemy chooses to mount an infantry assault, properly directed artillery is still very much a part of our tool kit for stopping him. The RCHA is good at the cannon cocking trade, and can be a great force multiplier for the infantry at the sharp end.

hey,

so are the troops out in down town kandahar on patrols and such or do they just have mortars set up for close support?

That really sounds like an OPSEC issue, better not ask.

My 2 cents, take it for what it's worth.

Locked.

Burkalator....none of the questions you are posting will be entertained in the slightest by the Mods on this site.

Especially when there is full, unclassified reports by the media in open source reporting.

Regards

The principal task of gunners in TFA is ensuring that all Tim's issuing points are on the common grid.

Once this is complete, a comprehensive set of reference points for the identification of gun positions, mortar baseplates and OPs will be effected.

Stand by to insert sticks into marshmallows, increment fires are hot, but short-lived.
