Hello

What is the current name for what was formerly called the Royal Canadian Engineers please?

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Mike

RCE is now just called Canadian Military Engineers (CME) or just Engineers. (I have seen both used while at the School in Gagetown)

Chimo!

Hello again

My father retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1971 from what is now called the Canadian Military Engineers.

In 1971, were they called the Canadian Military Engineers?

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Mike

Yes, and no. The name of the branch changed that year.

From the CME 2003 website:
The Canadian Forces Reorganization Act of 1968 led to the bringing together of Navy, Army and Air Force Engineers to form, in 1971, the Canadian Military Engineer Branch.
