I am interested in doing weapons design for the military-Army, Navy and Air Force.
I was wondering if anyone knows any contacts for companies.
Also, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a joint program with the CF with this kind of profession.

That would depend on your qualifications, and design experience.Drawing stuff up on a piece of paper doesn't cut it.You will have to make working prototypes, pay for your own R&D,convince someone to look at it,have it compete against existing designs and so on.The CF does not usually design it's own weapons, they are bought off the shelf from established companies that specialize in such things.
If you are qualified and have a good reputation in these circles you will ahve to be hired onto a company like Diemaco and have them look at your designs. Good luck you are going to need it. ;)

The military doesn't do its own design work for most items. They identify a requirement, and then seek bids by companies that make a suitable piece of equipment for competitive testing.

The Army does, however, have a Technical Staff Training Program to produce officers, and select NCOs, who have the necessary training to develop project requirements and conduct the testing for the acquisition of new equipment.
