One of my LAV's was named, according to regimental tradition, "Denominator."  Initially, we thought the name bizzarre.  Then some clown pointed out, "Yhea, as in lowest common."

So when we were painting the names on, we accidentally forgot an eno.  And since no-one actually reads the regimental manual, and it sounded pretty close to what the troopie said, it wasn't really wrong.

Not exactly on topic but once had a Cougar everyone called the convertable because it didn't have a turret.

Although late to the game...

C/S 31 from C Sqn LdSH(RC) has "unofficially" renamed their tanks.  With a chuckle and a nod from the OC they were renamed (two actually printed on their barrels)

31A - CHAOS
31B - CRIMSON
31C - COMA (the flowerpot vehicle)
