Here's an eye opener for those who seek to do good will in foreign countries.  Six Bulgarian doctors and nurses (the doctor being a former Palestinian) spent eight years in a LIbyan prison after a Libyan court convicted them of infecting over 400 Libyan children with HIV/AIDS.

The hypocrisy?  Libya was praised for its humanitarian efforts for finally releasing the inmates (rather than condemned for its witch hunt police practices) and allowing to serve the rest of their life sentence in Bulgaria.  They were, of course, immediately pardoned by the President of Bulgaria after they got home.

Edit - Oops, had Belgian instead of Bulgarian...

It's always the way though, and extends well beyond this kind of thing. Those who help get blamed for everything that doesn't go perfectly, even if they are not the cause of it, and were trying to help.

Actually the nurses were Bulgarian and the doctor was Palestinian.

I believe Belgium has a king, not a president...
The immediate responses beg the question, "is there anything factual in this story; if so, where is it -- if not, why was this story published?"

Assignment: who benefits from this story's publication, as written, and why? (no PowerPoint answers accepted ;) )
