To follow up on the size of gun detachments - don‘t forget that Arty rarely is kept in reserve if ever. Pardon the expression, detachment size is important - particularly if you want to sleep sometime. It is a 24/7 commitment to support the most important man on the battlefield: the infantry soldier. In my opinion interoperability on crew served vehicles and guns is an operational necesary evil.
