Greetings to all. I currently am transferring to the reg force as an int specialist. Il would like to know a few things:
1)How long is the QL3? I heard that there is a common QL3 (Like the common EME course) and then your specialization.
2)Is the QL5 coming right after the QL3?
3)Will I be able to move to CFB Kingston with my wife and child during training? If not, how are the apartments there?

Thank you so much.

You mean Int Op I think.

There is a common component to the QL3 and then you do your "environmental specific" stuff.  There is a DL portion that is done from your home unit (call it 4 weeks) before you do the in-house stuff.

IIRC, the QL3 is approx 80 trg days.

The rest, someone else in the MOC will have to chime in for (or someone with access to the CFSMI DIN site).

Unless things have changed in the last few years, there is no Int Op QL3. I checked the web page for the Intelligence Branch and it still states that the entry level course is the QL5. Yes, there is a common phase and then you split into Army, Navy and Air Force classes for training specific to those elements.

I doubt that the CF is going to pay to move you and your family to Kingston for a course that's only a few months long and then move you again on completion of the course. Plus, it would be pretty inconvenient for yourself and family to move so quickly.

You will be staying in transient quarters on base. Not sure what the status of quarters in these days.

for the move, i don't mind paying...

From what I've seen from remusters, they rebadge to Int and do an OJT at a unit for a while before they go on the QL5. Sometimes they're posted back to the same unit, sometimes not.

As for the apartments in Kingston, they aren't bad if you aren't looking for much. There's also a 4-5 month waiting list for PMQs now because they're tearing a lot of them down with no replacements being built and the housing market is awfully overpriced if you don't want to live 45 minutes away.
