I'm currently mounting a guard/colour party for my local Legion branch, and I'd like to know if I could find rifles (innexpensive) for nparade purpose

For civvies?  Talk to your CSM about mounting Guards and Colour Parties.

Armed escorts are not required for flag parties and legions do not have colours.

Some of the Legions in Windsor use .303 Lee Enfields when escorting the Canadian/ US flag and the Legion flag, either on parades like Remembrance Day or a Legion funeral. The Commander usually addresses them as Escort to the Colours or Colour Guard. They are all volunteers from the Legion.

Like I said, talk to a WO or CSM and get into the drill pam if you want to do a colour party right.

Oh, the composition of the so-called colour party/guard+drill is not the problem, having been dsm for my cadet corps for 1 year and rsm for 6 months. The point is where to get the euipment...

Personally I think your right out of 'er - but I woudl advise getting rubber rifle - some Ring's Blue Guns http://www.blueguns.com/ - you can paint them black

The CF is NOT going to give you jack or shit.  If it means that much to the legion they shoudl ask for a reg or reserve unit to provide something...

All Legion branches will have the flags. Some have specific uniforms, bought by the Branches, for their Colour Parties. If not, the normal Legion "Blues and Greys" (blue blazer and grey slacks) and Legion beret will suffice. If your doing it in your own uniforms, make sure everyone in the party is the same, and well turned out. As far as rifles, if the Branch does not have any, another Branch in the area may be able to help. Armed Escorts are not really required, some use them, some don't. It's not a big deal. Get the commands right and do some practices before hand. Recce the spot of the ceremony and ensure you have the room to manoeuvre and how your going to do it. Is it a large hall full of dinner tables, or a weirdly laid out funeral home? It's always best to check and run through a couple of practices first. Also speak to the President or the Committee for any Branch customs they follow. The Branch has likely had their own do this before, and past Colour party members will be able to help you out as to what they're looking for.

BTW, good on you and your compadres. It's nice to see young people getting involved with the Legion. They need the help. Let us know how you made out.

But is there a way to get fn's??? I mean, these rifles rock and look great on parade
