Mountie dies on recreational scuba dive
A B.C. Mountie has died while on a recreational scuba dive near Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island.
The RCMP say Cpl. Paul Voisine was with five other divers at an artificial reef near Snake Island Wednesday when he was found unconscious on the deck of the sunken warship, HMCS Saskatchewan.
The other divers tried to help him with his breathing before he was brought to the surface where efforts were made to revive him, but they failed.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The RCMP say Voisine was a member of the force for more than 30 years, serving at various detachments in the Kootenays before transferring to Vancouver Island.
