Prayers for the injured man, and his colleagues and family  :salute:

A military member of CFB Esquimalt was seriously injured Monday morning in an industrial accident at 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron at Patricia Bay. The man was rushed to hospital. Military officials notified his next of kin and are working to support the man and his family during this difficult time, said Lt. (Navy) Nicole Murillo, base public affairs officer.

A crisis team was deployed to 443 Squadron to support those who assisted the injured man and to anyone else requiring assistance. Base Commander Steven Waddell has ordered an investigation into the situation.

No details of the accident will be released while the investigation is ongoing. However, Murillo said it did not involve any aircraft. “Our sympathies and prayers are with the member and the family and I can assure them that the Canadian Armed Forces is committed to providing all the necessary support to the member and family during this exceptionally difficult time,” said Waddell.

443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron is the west coast Sea King squadron. It provides three helicopter air detachments in support of the Royal Canadian Navy Pacific Fleet. The squadron works with the Navy in supporting government efforts to combat drug, fisheries and environmental violations in Canadian waters. Internationally, it supports Navy operations in surface and subsurface surveillance as well as peacekeeping and humanitarian operations.
