This is insane it's the first I heard of it.

This from wiki:

M240L

The U.S. Army's new lightweight M240L variant. The M240L (or M240B Weight Reduction Program, formerly the M240E6), is intended to reduce the weight of the existing M240B by five pounds.[2] The resulting improvements will reduce the Soldier’s combat load while allowing easier handling and movement of the weapon. It is expected to be type classified in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2010.[3]

(Assuming without the sight it will make the weapon 7 pounds lighter)

Try a search next time, or I will start deleting your many posts that seem to be nothing more substantial than an attempt to collect points to play the game.
