How unfortunate.. the guy sailed many times before and makes this mistake one time and it costs him his life. No wonder they don't screw around with that stuff.

Hope it's him, so he can return to Canada and his parents can get a least a bit of closure.

Personally, I don't see any harm in doing that as it gives others a chance to remember him in a better time.  Cheers.

Considering they don't know what really happened yet how do you figure he made a mistake? Speculation and off the base remarks like that does no one any good in particular his family.
 
I met Rob when he was on his 3's in Borden back in 2000 when I was working up there.  We kept in touch when I moved down here to Shearwater and as fate would have it, when I was on my RMS 6's last summer back up there, he was down the hall from me on his 5's.  He was a good guy and his disappearance has always bothered me [especially when the navy spokesperson made some uncalled-for speculations].  I hope his family finds some peace from this news, in an overall tragic situation.
