Posted this yesterday and am still hoping some will help me.
We have a terminally ill x BCD Warrant and he wants to have this song sung at his funeral Service and at his Wake in the Brigadier Murphy Armoury at Vernon, BC.
One and only reply I got was to go ahead and do it and also while he is still with us too.
But I still need someone to send me the words and maybe even the musicto it. Any help would be appreciated - The family will remember you in their prays. Thanks

Frank,

Try sending a message to the Canadian Army Mailing List. There are people on the mailing list that don‘t read the forums here, so you‘ll get a larger audience by asking both groups.

For info on the list, see http://CdnArmy.ca/listserv.

Good luck with the search, and if you have any problems with the list, just let me know.

Cheers

There is a CD "The Best of George Formby" put out by Delta Music Ltd. of Beckenham, Kent BR3 1QZ. It has the words and the music. My kids got it for me so I‘m sure it is available here in Canada. If worse comes to worse send me your address and I‘ll take a tape off it and send to you.

Art: Have had no luck here in this small town of Vernon, BC

Would gladly pay you for a copy or even just the words by email would be great too.

Thanks for your fast reply. Frank McKerry

Gunner has responded on the mailing list, with the following:

Kiss me Goodnight, Sergeant Major

Private Jones came in one night,
Full of cheer and very bright.
He‘d been out all day upon the spree.
He bumped into Sergeant Smeck,
Put his arms around his neck
And in his ear he whispered tenderly:

Chorus:
Kiss me good-night, Sergeant-Major,
Tuck me in my little wooden bed.
We all love you, Sergeant-Major,
When we hear your bawling, "Show a leg."
Don‘t forget to wake me in the morning,
And bring me round a nice hot cup of tea
Kiss me good-night, Sergeant-Major,
Sergeant-Major, be a mother to me.

Music is located at: http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/9656/sgtmaj.mid

Just thought I‘d post it here as well, to save time.

Cheers
