Hello I'm fairly new here, this being my first post.

Well me and a few of my friends have been strongly considering the CF for a career! I have been searching through the site and a small bit of the forums but this place is pretty big and I figured I could get pointed in the right direction or given an answer from here!

I am a carpenter by trade in my Civi life and am really attracted to the Combat engineering Trade, after watching videos and reading things on the trade I personally feel it would be the direction for me!

another trade that has always had me interested is Artillery Field soldier small history involved here( not seeking a pity party either, also was not a trigger for me wanting to join the CF) my Brother was a member of the 84th independent Field battery for 10 years here in Yarmouth NS. He had always suggested the Cf to me because he felt it would suit me fairly well! Recently My brother was serving over seas in Afghanistan and the difference he felt he was making was truly inspiring to me to also want to help make this world a better place. Sadly my brother was Killed on Dec 30 2009 while over seas and that was sort of an eye open that life is too short to just think about things!

anyway sorry for the long history! Like I said I have looked into things but what I cant find any where is  any information about Day to Day life as a member of the CF once you have completed BMQ, SQ and your trade school.. IF anyone could give me some insight on your main day to day life it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advanced!

Do some more reading on the site, check out the CF recruiting website, go an speak to a recruiter and check out the videos for the trades you are interested in.

Thanks,

As far as the Construction engineering officers, I guess I was not aiming twards something like that for the same reasonI have not persued a Foreman job with some of the bigger local Companies, at this point in my Life I'd rather be more of a doer than an overseer type position I guess,

and for the Construction Tech I know it would be really close to my Civi life but I was looking for more of a change that I could apply my Civi skills to like the combat Eng with the construction of bridges roads pads defencive structures( to my knowlage anyway from what I have read on the forces.ca site)

I still have yet to find out anything on Day to Day life as a member of the reg forces, have been searching many threads, any suggestions?

Hey Boomer, welcome to army.ca.  I'm pretty sure I saw you on the news one night talking about your brother.  Sorry for your loss.
Sounds to me like you would enjoy being a combat engineer.  If that's what you are interested in, just go for it.  I'm sure you won't regret it.
I can't go into specifics about day to day life as a combat engineer, or hard army trades for that matter...I know here in my trade, once all your training is completed ( bmq, ql3 etc), it's kind of a regular routine of 7(ish)AM starts and 3(ish) finishes, with PT, occasional inspections, maintenance of kit, cleaning, coffee breaks, lunch, emails, administration, etc etc.

Now keep in mind the army will, at other times, have you busier than hell...preparing for deployments, taskings, in the field and all that jazz.  You must have an idea of that I'm sure.

One other thing to remember is that you don't make alot of money for your first couple of years.  After about year 3 and then especially 4 thats when things start to get alot better.  Keep in mind this is from a guy with a mortgage and kids, etc.
Anyhow, it's a pretty good go.....come join us.
