All anyone can do is look at current trends; this has seemed to indicate war by proxy over the last couple of decades. The major powers of the world seem to have relatively stable relations with one another - Europe, for example. That could all unravel quickly given a circumstance dire enough. It's impossible to predict. Then there are the "wildcards" like North Korea and I think we have a remote possibility of potential adversaries in world powers such as China or the Soviet Union. Then there are areas of the world that are habitually strife torn, parts of Africa, the mid-east, eastern Europe. "Trouble in the Balkans" sucked all of Europe into the First World War.

I think if you study past history, the more you will come to realize how little value can be placed on studying past history with regards to predicting future conflicts, though...

Your "predictions" seem not to be based on any kind of evidence or fact. For an interesting, meaningful or useful discussion to occur, you would need to do more than present some 'end of the world' prediction. I believe Kirkhill used the phrase "end of the world is nigh" in another thread recently; your post seems to offer nothing more than that. At this stage of the game, anyone predicting a nuclear exchange of any kind is simply guessing. I personally place more faith in humanity than that - perhaps the one shining light has been the reluctance of even a nut like Saddam Hussein to employ chemical weapons in open warfare during the last two wars with the US. To me, it suggests restraint with weapons of mass destruction that hopefully would be applied by first world nations as well.

But no one really knows, eh.

The one scenario I think will happen is the use of a "dirty bomb".

The material is out there, the knowledge is out there, they don't have to be too particular. As a terrorist act, it would seem that the next level of attack will be either biological, chemical or a ratty dirty nuclear bomb.

I am not a military expert or some tactician, so I can't really speculate as to who is going to do what with any real accuracy. But the fact that N. Korea is very adamant about testing their missiles and the fact that they have warned against any pre-emptive strike (I would realllllly love to cite that, but I can't find the spot I read that - I believe it was the Ottawa Citizen yesterday) would be responded to with 'annihilating' force is quite a scary prospect. Are they just trying get everyone's attention, or do they really want some results?

We may have been prepaid, as the government is investing in our military so we are "prepared".

As for option a, b, and c, I saw an episode of G.I Joe where the team stopped Cobra right after Option A.  Therefore we were saved from b and c.

If the next world war was going to start there would be a lot of signals, as there are before any conflict.  The problem is whether you are in the right place to see the signs!

Back to North Korea, a very strange place.  They claim they are in imminent danger of being attacked and invaded by the US, and have been claiming the same thing for the past ten years (and as far as I know since the end of the Korean War).  Their whole national economy is based on the concept that the US is going to attack.  All efforts are focused on maintaining a military force that can repulse a US attack.  The entire poplation born and raised since 1953 has been taught that the US is going to attack.  They have no one else to focus on as a threat.  They are so indoctrinated with the thought of a US attack that their entire system would collapse from confusion and lack of focus if they abandonded the idea.

If you have some questions, ask them, people here will answer to the best of their ability, or refer you somewhere that will. I don't think nuclear power would be used ever again. My thinking is based on the Korean war the Vietnam war the Persian gulf wars etc. Not one of those wars were there any bombs dropped. In the Korean war it involved the US and the Soviet Union. I think that countries holding these bombs wont use them because of the fact that if they drop one 10 more are coming there way. Even NK knows better But f one does get dropped then hide in your basement in a bomb shelter because there going to be flying all over the place.
