One of our biggest contributors and funniest members here on army.ca passed on earlier this week. I'd never met Ian, but had many funny discussions over the last 20 years in our little online world here.

Kat loved blowing things up ... and he was good at it because he was careful and paid attention to detail. He loved football and his family and his friends. He will be sorely missed. I never met him in person but we changed messages - often full of insults about the relative superiority of Welsh vs Scots vs all there others and rugby vs football vs cricket.

I cannot recall ever meeting Kat but he had a wit second to none - and not afraid to call any one of us out cause we said something stoopid.

Ian was a character, a kind-hearted soul who loved life, family and friends. He was also pretty skilled at firmly, but not unkindly, not suffering fools. Honoured to have had a few chin wags in person with the legend. He will remain close to the hearts of all those whom he touched.
