Before your significant other goes on tour/course etc, learn the following about your house:
1. Where the main water valve to the house is and how to turn it off
2. How to turn the water off to the toilet
3. How to change the furnace filter
4. How to fix a blown circuit
5. How to set a mouse trap
6. What the sump pump is, how it works, where it lets out, and what to do if it is frozen!
DH taught me #1-5…however #6 we forgot about! I spent the night learning about sump pumps from my neighbour. Thank God for good neighbours!
