An interesting look at gang infiltration of the US military.

NOTE: I did not know where to put this, and since it was a news article, the news section seemed fitting.  Also post is in no way anti-US in any way, shape or form, and only depicts a VERY small portion of the US armed forces.

Thanks for that, quite an eye opener.Sweeping generalisation like saying everyone in Valcartier does cocaine after last years episode.

good to watch though

The footage of them signing at the NCO club on the dance floor was a surprise, I had no idea they would be so open about it.

How would they ever be able to keep gang-bangers out of the military though?

I mean, what can they REALLY do about it?

There really is a potential timebomb here what with the weapons and tactical training, the exposure to how IED's are constructed and used.  I can see a more focused use in the militia groups, more so than the gangs, although the gangs would not hesitate to use the weapons training on their rivals and the police.

I think something is really buggered up in their recruiting, if they can't even catch this stuff is just a reference check or background check.

I dint know they dont do a enhanced reliability check in the states, they dont even ask for references?wow

What if they don't have a criminal background, just a "supposed" gang affiliation?

I don't know enough about their Recruiting Process to say what gets someone a "no thanks", or about their anti-gang laws.  So potential recruit has some funny tattoo's or something, can you keep him/her out because of that?

Makes ya wonder if we have some sneakin' in through our own recruiting system.

All those bangers coming home with combat experience...no fear, solid nerves, a big set of brassy ones, and weapons/tactics/explosives knowledge.  Yikes on the streets of the US.  And what about all the "militia" folks, the illegal "We are against the government" ones that get in to study the enemy from the inside?   :-\

Poverty brings crime right...
No wonder why you have a hard time getting in the cf with debt or credit problems.

What "sweeping generalization"???  Did I miss something?  Did you miss something?  At the end they explicitly say that the estimated number of gang members in the US armed forces is a little over 350, compared to the million or so members currently serving.

I think you're just looking for a witch to burn here...

relax
little jumpy? Maybe we have to look at our meth heads? ;D
I was refering to the video showing one dark side of a professional organisation.
typical media finding one problem and capitalising on it.Imagine the media could blow up that canadian army is full of kiddy porn freaks with this loser here in Gagetown also.

again relax (le poof) sp?

Well I could give you an idea on how to catch them. Look at their frigging tattoos!  Everyone of them loves to mark themselves in some way to brag of their association.

Kincanuuks

I mentioned that already, is it enough to keep them out though?

Not sure how the US military recruiting system (s) work...

The Hells Angels have been trying to recruit Canadian ex-military members for years, but they are not a criminal organization right? A certain Vandoo who decapitated a man in a Hull bar with a machete a few years ago springs to mind as well. Never charged, go figure.

Then every wannabe skin-head with a swastika or iron cross would never be accepted, and the US recruiters HAVE quotas to meet!!!

Well we look for racist or gang tattoos in recruiting here but in the US who knows.

Do you have a source on that?As I remember hearing the rumor as a airborne guy from petawawa going over to chapeau and doing it.

Sounds like urban myth to me....

never charged? So If I ever get caught DUI or something stupid, I can bring up that a vandoo gutted a guy with a machete didn't get charged!!!That should get me off with a warning!
