Funeral of Corporal Éric Labbé
5 CMBG.08.05 - January 16, 2008
Valcartier Garrison, Quebec — The civic funeral of Corporal Éric Labbé, who died in Afghanistan on January 6, 2008, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16 2008. The ceremony will take place at the Saint-Robert Church, located on Saint-Laurent Street West, Rimouski, Que.
Citizens that would like to pay tribute to Corporal Éric Labbé will be able to do so on January 16 all along the funeral procession. The convoy will leave the Bas-Saint-Laurent Funeral Home at approximately 1:45 p.m. and will travel successively on Sirois Ave and Saint-Laurent Street up to Saint-Robert Church. At about 3:30 p.m., the procession will leave the Church and use Michaud Street, on to 2nd Street to the Rimouski Cemetery (280, 2nd Street East).
Visiting hours
Dates and timings: Tuesday, January 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Wednesday, January 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.;
Location: Bas-Saint-Laurent Funeral Home, 286 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Street West (Rimouski, Que.)
Born in Rimouski (Que.), Corporal Éric Labbé joined the Regular Force of the Canadian Forces on September 14, 2001. Professional infantryman, Éric was a member of 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, based in Valcartier, Que. He was 31 years old and this was his second mission overseas as a member of the Regular Force.
