hey guys
I'm considering joining the army as a electrical and mechanical engineer officer.
If I chose to get as job as a civilian engineer once my contract is over, will the experience I got from working in the army be valued

I don't think you could have asked a more subjective question.

Some employers will, some employers won't, some employer's won't know what to make of it.

This may help.

engeneering experience

If you're going to be one, it probably behooves you to learn how to spell it and pay attention to detail. ;)

Engineers do rithmetic.  They can read.  They can't rite.

I work with enjineers and do a bit of engineering myself.

But Cdn Aviator had it right.  Some will value it and some won't.

More to the point - sometimes you will find your experience helps you solve problems and sometimes it won't.  The more problems you solve the better you will be appreciated.

It will come down to the reference from your employer, your ability to research the army's requirements, and your ability to communicate your abilities.

I agree with others.  Even in the remote case that the army believes you are a engineering genius, your inability to communicate it in writing will hinder you.
