TORONTO - Rita MacNeil, a singer-songwriter from small-town Canada whose powerful voice explored genres from country, to folk, to gospel, died Tuesday night following complications from surgery. She was 68

I remember tearing up the first time I heard/saw her and The Men of the Deep peforming Working Man years ago on TV.

We saw her in Orillia at the casino with The Men of the Deeps in 2010.

Well worth seeing live and we will miss her.

I remember her spot on Trailer Park Boys now that was cool. RIP Rita.

Saw her in Belleville ON. Great concert. Sad to see her go.
