Call of Duty: Black Ops

Haha that's the typical arguement MW:2 Fanboys use when they try and justify how bad their beloved game was.  The fact that you point out whichever team was hosting had a better connection makes the game bad to begin with.    The MW:2 Matchmaking system ripped apart any form of community the game had.  If you tried teaming up with friends or clans you were lucky to get half of them in the game or you would DC as soon as you logged on.  Than due to no dedicated servers the game is full of cheaters, hackers, stad padders and just typical FPS kiddie assholes.  The single player was absolute crap.  I do though give IW a pat on the back for making the air port level which is imo one of the best game levels ever created in terms of just plain shock value and setting up the storyline.  Once that level was over it was all down hill from there.

You're saying it's the best first person shooter ever made? You obviously just started gaming and only  have a XBox 360 since you havn't played Half Life, Half Life 2 (The best FPS ever created), System Shock 1,2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Turok, Golden Eye, No one lives forever, CS:S, Perfect Dark, Dues Ex (Arguebly one of the best games ever created), Halo 1,  and Quake 2.
No accually i own a PS3..  The only game you mentioned that was good was Halo, that was definately one of the best. But as for the other ones i disagree. You cant compare Golden Eye to MW2 ?  And ive played 160 DAYS on all of the CODS put together.. not to mention other games, so no im not that new to gaming

Modern Warfare 2 was the first game I played for the XBox, I got it new for Christmas.
I'm not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination.

Lack of dedicated servers.
I don't know any better. I've heard people mention this before. I'm not really worried about playing with my 'clan or guild'.  Yea teams get split up sometimes.

Shitty single player campaign that was 6 hours long.
Stupid campaign storyline
People always want longer single player campaigns, myself included.  It took me longer to finish the game because I can't sit down in front of the xbox for 6 hours straight and finish the game.  I found the story line was pretty neat, some cool locations, interesting story line.

Rehashed multiplayer.
It was MW:1 with slightly nicer graphics and a few other toys.
That's what happens though. Game comes out, its a hit, the next game is just improvements and slight changes in the mechanics.

Nuke boosters
Overpriced mappacks
Yea that sucks.  The cost of the map packs was stupid, they should give that shit away for free.

akimbo shotguns
Because it's not realistic?

Certain killstreaks (Depends who you ask)
"Noob tube" classes
Some of the perks

Agreed.

I particularly didn't like the cheats that started popping up in the game.  The game company should have hammered down on that.  Likewise they don't seem to take reports about abusive language etc.. very seriously. I spend the first few minutes blocking players.

Apollo the reason dedicated servers are so popular is they put the power in the hands of the player.  Some asshole hacking or cheating?  The mods just kick them out.  Someone stat padding, kicked and banned.    The biggest concern about getting rid of them though was the precedent it sets in the modding community.  Moding is all about replayability, modders will create maps, content and specialty servers.  When Activision stripped MW:2 of them they pretty much kicked every PC gamer in the balls. It was a cash grab. Since we couldn't make our own maps we were forced into buying the shitty ones that Activision created.  And they were bad, really bad.

Tlaidler I'll reply later I had a few paragraphs written up but IE shit on me and deleted it.

Thanks for enlightening me Head, I'm sold on dedicated servers.  I got a feeling the companies really don't give a shit about our playing experience as long as their making money from us.

Its a business.. obviously making money comes first?  I forgot to mention in my previous post that i find it hard to believe you left Bad Company 1 and 2 off your list. They are some of the best FSP's ever made. But i must admit i havent played "Return to castle wolfstein" or "Quake 2". No game is perfect... but you have to admit MW2 was definately the most realistic.

You want realistic? Play America's Army. MW2 is only realistic because they have the weapon names matched properly to the weapon skins.

Apparently the 'Hardened' and 'Prestige' version will include 4 zombie maps.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Gets Its Own Limited Edition Jeep

It'll be a Jeep paint black or green or camo with Call of Duty written on it. Jeep's are great vehicles, but I wouldn't go run out and buy one just for the name. Who does Chrysler think gamers are? Most aren't 30 somethings with 60k+ jobs in need of a new vehicle to haul the kids around in.

I was going to re-write my post until you called MW:2 realistic.  It's NO WHERE near realistic.  If you want realism play ARMA or Operation Flashpoint.  Two AVERAGE games plagued with AI problems that are 100x more realistic than MW:2.

Lets not ruin the thread by trying to interject realism in a video game.

One of the biggest attractions to these games in my opinion is the weapons and equipment. People like using modern stuff (ww2 and historical buffs aside).

For me after lighting up freedom haters with an ACR, SCAR, P2000 I'm not exactly looking forward to going back to a game that's using M16s RC cars and compound bows.  I like the modern in modern warfare, I wonder if other people will feel the same way.

Well obviously you know everything... how did you become so wise? instead of sharing your infinite wisdom on blogs, you should write a book about life or maybe start teaching?

Wait... you're saying MW:2 is realistic, and insulting someone who says it isn't?

I'm just curious, for chuckles. What do you find realistic about it? What exactly resembles reality?

Well the killstreaks are all based on real vehicles, most of the guns are based off of real models.  I mostly play hardcore.. so it only takes 1 bullet to kill someone... I admit there are some unrealistic things like some of the perks but for the most part its based on real life.  So ill ask you the same thing "for chuckles" what do you find unrealistic about it?

I'm absolutely astounded.

Seriously, I am.

MW2...realistic? What?!

No, just, no. Based off real vehicles? Based off real weapons? That's funny, I wasn't aware every assault rifle in that game lacked a semi auto feature and could only be fired on fully automatic. Maybe I should take my C7 to an armourer to get it looked at, as it appears to only fire one round when I pull the trigger. Infantry carry laptops that let them randomly take control of predators whenever we feel like it? Must have missed that in my kit issue. I guess this also means that at twenty feet someone can shoot me with a burst of 5.56, and I can simply kill them with a knife, from 20 feet away. Any of the Afghan vets here get to call in a nuke if you shot 25 taliban?

'Based on real life' does not mean 'realistic', not in the slightest. That's like saying resident evil is realistic because the weapons are mostly based off of real weapons. MW2 is not realistic, period. It is however a fun, enjoyable game. That is it.

Tell you what, if you're convinced it's realistic, ask your instructors when you get to BMQ when you get to do the AC-130 training for when you get your killstreak.

By your defintion most porn might also be defined as 'realistic' because things look the same and the parts fit more or less the same way.

Clearly you never played Flashpoint, as just one fantastic example that's been borught up. But when you eventually get to BMQ, don't let that dissuade you from telling your instructors that it's not 'realistic' to hike several kilometers before you get to your objective. They respond well to that.

Hopefully you'll look back on your own words not some years down the road and see why we all think calling MW2 'realistic' is absurd.
