Boot repair options?

I have a pair of lightweight hiking boats made by Timberland, finding boots for my feet is a real pain. I also have a gait that wear the back of the heel out faster than the rest of the sole. The top of the boots is doing fine, but the heel and sole is wearing out. No shoe repair guy around here is interested in touching it. I have had limited success filling holes in the tread with Shoe Goo, but it does not bind well enough to the sole to be used to build up the tread. Is there another glue that bonds well to most rubbers and would last being used as tread? (yes I know that I am a wee bit cheap, but really it takes me about 3-5 months to find a shoe or boot that fit me without selling my first born)

Any help is appreciated
