Part of joining the military includes a criminal record name check/credit check. These are used to determine whether a person might be subject to outside pressures that could reflect on the degree of trust of the individual joining. If adverse conditions are found it's not simply "thanks for coming out, good bye." - your file will be reviewed the the Unit PSO and possibly the Regional PSO for determination. There are mitigating circumstance in some cases which may (note the word MAY) still allow the person to join. Even after you've been discharged a bankruptcy remains on your file for 6 years; so will still show up on the credit check.
Even a recruiter should avoid saying you're good to go or not.
canadian13, until a bankruptcy is discharged, it represents a current, ongoing legal obligation that makes a CAF applicant "ineligible" for file processing.
Once the bankruptcy is discharged, then it is something that would be reviewed as part of the reliability screening.
